Design Review and Specialist Advice

MedCom Engineering Ltd offer a specialist design and advice service from briefing through to a comprehensive and detailed design package. We have trained staff fully conversant with relevant design requirements and standards, such as current BCGA & EIGA Codes of Practice. These services are available to Clients directly and also to Consulting Engineering Practices.

We can provide 3rd party, independent design review services. This is a systematic, comprehensive, and documented analysis of a design to determine an installations capability and adequacy to meet its’ user requirements. A design review also assists in identifying present and potential problems within an installed / existing system.

It is a legal requirement to have a complete ‘Written Scheme of Examination’ before operation of a pressure system. As a competent body, MedCom Engineering can draw up such a proposal detailing the following items:

  • Safe operating parameters for the system
  • Detailed analysis of specific elements that need to be examined. The nature and frequency of examination required (Planned Preventative Maintenance Proposal) which is part of the
  • Written Scheme of Examination. We can offer budgetary planning for upgrading existing systems by way of completing a Risk Assessment and prioritise specific urgent issues. This includes advice for futureproofing your system to ensure ongoing compliance of both installation and safety standards. If an existing gas system does not have a Written Scheme of Examination, we can still provide a comprehensive audit of your system – no matter how long it’s been in service, and retrospectively issue a complete Written Scheme.

We have often found that a Client will not have a record set of ‘as installed’ service drawings, O&M manuals, or product data sheets. As part of our specialist services, we can retrospectively identify equipment types, manufacturers, part numbers, pipe sizes and types and offer full asset tagging if required. We can also offer retrospective system mapping / fingerprinting and Record Drawings of systems if required.
Normally MedCom can produce a fully detailed Written Scheme of Examination within a week of the site survey.
